The key Elements of a NM-Unit
The key Elements of a NM-Unit
There is a basic framework of elements that have proven success over the years to form a successful Neighborhood-Management-Unit. The first element is to have a Ground floor On-Site Office close to the people to ease the outreach and communication within the neighborhood and playing the central role of coordination within the neighborhood.
Throughout the years the Integrated Action and Development Concept Plan has proven its importance to draw a clear path for a successful management of resources and funds within the designated areas. These collaboratively developed Plans form the basis of community participation and the implementation of projects and are covering 5 thematic fields for action; education, public space, social integration, health and environment (see Y).
The Local Neighborhood Committee and the Action fund-Jury are means of empowering the community giving them a voice and decision tool within their neighborhood.
The NM-Unit manages three different funds to fill the gap of needed offers and social structures, such as advisory-sessions, activities for seniors, a place for kids to meet and unfold, etc.
As mentioned, it is concerned with a spatially defined area where the funds should flow and from which the local Neighborhood Committee should be elected.
In addition, the NM-Unit is established within an area for a limited time. How long it will stay is something that cannot be determined in advanced, however it is temporally existing and is meant to dissolve by the time there are indicators of self-organization and management within the social infrastructure and by the improvement of the neighborhood indicators (see X)
The NM-Unit works with Senate, Municipality, elected local committees and the important stakeholders and actors within the defined area.
